For most of my working life, I was a French and Japanese language teacher. In my mid-forties I was feeling a bit restless and dissatisfied with my life and decided to take a year’s leave. It was in that year I started reading books on inner transformation.
In the same year I did a course with the Sydney City Mission, now called Mission Australia, and became a volunteer phone counsellor. It was that experience which whet my appetite to learn more, and a few years later I completed a Counselling degree at the University of New England.
I continued reading literature and attending courses on personal development and transformation. What was apparent to me from the beginning was that the authors and course leaders had discovered a way of tapping into something “universal”, ethereal, yet constant. During those same years life threw up many challenges. I had opportunities to practise what I had learned.
The biggest challenge in my adult life was my divorce. It threw me into an abyss of not knowing who I was. I felt scared about my future. My financial situation suddenly altered. My way of viewing the world had been tipped upside down. I was dealing with so many emotions; sadness, grief, anger, shame, resentment.
Today there is so much scientific evidence that our thoughts and the emotions that accompany them are powerful beyond measure. We become ill and dysfunctional when we allow ourselves to remain stuck in past hurts. By consciously becoming more aware, we can create greater visions for our lives and heal ourselves, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
My life bears testimony to what I am advocating brings about the change and fulfilment you are seeking. I trusted my intuition, took risks and stepped into the unknown. I started to live a bigger and better life than I ever thought possible. I walked the Camino Frances in Spain, a distance of eight hundred kilometres. I bought a block of land in the inner west of Sydney and built a house on it. I came to realize that what we are both scared and excited about, are the very things we should do.
I use my expertise, learnings and experience to help and support you through the difficult time of your relationship breakup. I help you change your self-defeating and self-sabotaging beliefs and use your breakup as a catalyst to empower you to think and feel in a new way. I teach you how to use your energy to make decisions and take actions that propel you forward into living a life that you truly desire to live.

Jan’s workshop helped me strengthen my self-esteem and confidence. I particularly appreciated her supportive, compassionate facilitation and the creative ways in which we were able to identify and begin to resolve inner conflicts.

I reached out to Jan for counseling at a very vulnerable time in my life. I really felt ‘heard’ by Jan. I also appreciated the generative way that we used art to express how I was feeling and help me gain clarity around my situation, which inevitably helped me make better decisions about my future. Thanks Jan!
